"The more I want to do something, the less I call it work." Richard Bach This quote was shared with me by a fellow coach and colleague. I think it's a great quote that I share with you. Is not it so true that most want to do something, the less it feels like "work"? This quote led me to start thinking about the things I wanted to do my work against the things I felt I had to do. I wondered what made me * want * to do some things as opposed to others in my long list of tasks? Upon reflection, I realized that the issues I wanted to do were generally connected to feel useful and feel that I was helping someone else. It was the sense of purpose behind what he was doing motivated me.
This was interesting to watch. Sometimes it is easy to get off the "why" of what we are doing and get stuck in the "what" of what we are doing. When is the last time you wonder "why am I doing this?" And I do not mean when the response "for a paycheck!" Yes, all work for a paycheck (and the tax man!), But also for other reasons. So why are you working? What got you into this field? What are the things on your list of tasks that make it easy, fast and without hesitation? When we can identify * why why we are working by looking at things that * do not feel like work to us, we can help ease the burden we are sometimes the tasks that feel like the monotony .
The next time you find yourself fearing delays or a task, take a moment to reconnect with the main purpose of their work. What part of your job makes you feel alive, useful and as a collaborator in the world? It can sometimes be difficult to maintain the motivation to do any work. When you are motivated it is especially important for understanding * * Why you are choosing to do the work you do. It is essential to ensure that they are working for the right reasons.
